Thanks for reading this, and please respond. This laptop has no warranty, unfortunately, so I'm hoping for a quick and cheap fix, if not, I might just say screw it and get a new one, since alienware seems to have a lot of issues. Some say slide it off from the top, some say pinch the sides, some say basically take the thing apart, I don't know. I wanted to take the screen off, and then disconnect and reconnect some of the cables, but I can't seem to find any consistent way of doing that. However, I looked at the manual, I looked online, and no one seems to be able to help with this particular brand of laptop. I have heard it is an LCD problem, and possibly a loose or pinched cable. It gave me 8 beeps and not even the backlight came on.This is fixed by holding the fn button and turning it on. Well recently, all of a sudden, possibly from some sort of bump or slight fall I didn't notice, I don't know, the screen now turns white on boot and beeps 8 times, stops, and then repeats. ![]() ![]() Bios is also updated and PEG is selected. The fan is running, I have removed cmos battery, it works with the old 560 card. Pads are placed correct, but still nothing happens. My laptop is out of warranty since june 2013. I have a m17x r3 and I'm trying to get i running with a 660m card. Well I wanted quality, and that's what I thought I was getting. I use an Alienware M17X R3 and recently, my laptop refused to boot (8 beeps error code) and stayed on a black screen. ![]() Yes, I realize that I was stupid, that I shouldn't have bought a laptop that I found later was pretty much just a bunch of "fancy lights". I bought an Alienware M17X R3 two years ago.
